Christmas Truce (Seasonal)

Scent Notes - Juniper, Spruce, Vanilla, Coconut, and Cherry Brandy Toddy.

Inspired by the 1914 Christmas Truce between the British and the Germans.

On Christmas Eve 1914 on the front lines of the first world war, the German army started to sing Christmas songs, as the British first listened, they could see lanterns and small Christmas trees lining the German trenches. Eventually the British joined in the singing. Once daylight on Christmas day rose, some of the troops from the Bristish and German lines began talking to each other and eventually meeting face to face in No-man's land between the trenches.

This sparked many to exchange what they had like gifts from home and shared tastes of spirits such as brandy. while men were trading goodies, and taking pictures with each other, some of the men from either side decided to play a game of soccer with each other.

None of this was approved or sanctioned by the ranking officers from either side, they all strongly opposed fraternizing with the enemy.

This is a striking story of the humanity that can take place even in the midst of a war.

Sadly, the next day those same men whom just the day before had befriended each other had now gone back to firing upon the very man they may have shared a drink with the day before.
